Mayor Sheng meets with Swiss Consul General

On October 27, Mayor Sheng Lei received the delegation headed by Sacha Bachmann, Consul General of Switzerland in Shanghai.

Sheng noted that Switzerland was one of the first Western countries to establish diplomatic ties with the People's Republic of China.

Over the years, Changzhou has adhered to opening up and innovative development and promoted extensive cooperation with Switzerland, said Sheng.

Highlighting the success of the Sino-Swiss (Changzhou) International Industrial Innovation Park, she said that the city is ready to further work with the Swiss Consulate General to set an example of Sino-Swiss cooperation.  

Bachmann said that he is very impressed with the concentration of many important Swiss companies in Changzhou and hopes to see many more of these companies in the future.  

He highlighted Switzerland鈥檚 close network between research and development driven by renowned universities, highly specialized SMEs, and strong global cooperation.

He looked forward to witnessing more Swiss investments in the economic field or cooperation in various areas.

Changzhou currently has 37 Swiss-invested companies, with registered foreign capital of 369 million US dollars. There are also Changzhou-based enterprises making investments in Switzerland.

From January to August this year, Changzhou鈥檚 trade with Switzerland registered 1.58 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.8 percent.
